Cybersecurity Scholarships - V2

Open to both graduate and undergrad students! 

The Department of War (DoW) offers one of the most generous scholarships to improve the nation's and the DoW's security posture. These scholarships are offered to both non-DoW and DoW employees. Target candidates for the non-DoW employee scholarships are attending or plan to attend colleges or universities who are designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence (NCAE) in Cybersecurity (UCCS qualifies!). Upon graduation, recipients are required to work for the DoW for a period of time, based on their award, but -- GET THIS -- you can do offensive cyber during your service. Awards include 100% free tuition and up to a $29,000 annual stipend.

If you are a cyber student, defense industry-bound student or an ROTC Cadet, you can get a $2,500 scholarships (per person) and a paid summer internship. CyberRangerForce is a CU-wide Virtual Center, led by UCCS, for current undergraduate students pursuing cybersecurity or related degrees. 

Scholarships app's are closed for Fall 2026 semester. Check back in late 2026 (usually mid-October - mid-November) for Spring 2027 applications. Acceptance notifications are sent in early December.

This scholarship is targeted at graduating high school students who have been historically under-represented in technology. The scholarship is for 4 years (duration of college experience) and can total up to $40,000 per person in that time, assuming requirements are met.

If you plan to attend college in Colorado, the state awards scholarships for some Colorado colleges and universities. This scholarship is not major-specific. UCCS is a participating university in COF.

The SFS scholarship, known as the Colorado-Washington Security Scholars Program (CWSSP) at UCCS, is designed to recruit IT, cybersecurity and industrial control systems (ICS) professionals to jobs in federal, state, local and tribal governments. If requirements are met, the scholarships can supply up to 3 years of support for undergraduate and graduate education, as a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). There is a requirement to work for the US Government after graduation.

NOTE: As of early 2026, CWSSP is not accepting any new student applications. Stay tuned to this page for updates, as we plan to apply for future funds to support this scholarship in the future.

Sponsored by (ISC)2 & CCSE, this scholarship encourages degrees in cybersecurity, information assurance, or related fields. It is a global scholarship that totaled more almost $200,000 in awards in 2023. Target candidates include undergraduate, graduate, military/Veteran/spouse, women of color, and BIPOC, and under-represented populations.

This scholarship is awarded to high school, undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate financial need. It is not specific to a particular major. Aspiring college students can receive up to $55,000 per year in addition to other supportive services.

This scholarship is for eligible Veterans who are currently enrolled in a STEM program. It provides up to 9 months or $30,000 in training for high-demand fields including STEM and cybersecurity.

These scholarships are directed toward women in cybersecurity in the US, Asia Pac, Europe, the Middle East or Africa.

AFCEA (Armed Forces Communications & Electronics Assoc.) sponsors multiple scholarships for undergraduate STEM and cybersecurity students. 

For the STEM Majors, there are 4 different types of scholarships, with only one app for all four. Awards range from $2,500 to $5,000. For more information, visit AFCEA's STEM Majors Scholarship page. NOTE: you do not have to be Military or Veteran to apply.

The HEROES Scholarship aspires to provide enrolled active-duty military students with the funding needed to cover the cost-of-attendance gap between Military Tuition Assistance and UCCS attendance costs. The average gap is currently $3,000 per year.

The Associations for Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA) Scholarship Program provides financial support for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a degree program. Awards may reach up to $10,000 to support academic expenses. Students from all majors and backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
